There is a bit of news from your friends at Cool Cuisine.

We had a fun time at Pho Tasty in early July; and we are so grateful for the opportunity to gather and thank our friends at Taffach Ethiopian before they closed!

On that note, we are very sad to say we had to delete 4 recently closed restaurants from our web page including Ding How, Delta of Venus, and Taffach Ethiopian.  So we’d appreciate it if you all take a look at the restaurant page and see if there are any newer places that we should add. Vegan Tacos – new offering at Sudwerks
Good to see you all this week at My Burma and at the Sudwerk dinner on Thursday to try out the new vegan tacos.
They are chipotle cauliflower, pickled red onions, and a jalapeno avocado sauce (made with coconut milk).  They will be on the Sudwerk’s menu this fall. 
We noticed a new place in the Lake Blvd. mall called Seoulmate Korean Kitchen which had 4-5 items marked as vegan — we were wondering if any of you have been there??
 
We continue to work with Vegan Butcher’s Son from Berkeley to help them find a location here in Davis.  They are talking with two properties at the moment.
 
We also met the owner of Herd and Flock Animal Sanctuary from Vacaville. They want people to know:
  1. they need volunteers to help with the animals 
  2. they give tours of the Sanctuary if you book ahead. If anyone wants to set up a date and carpools for Davis people I am happy to share that out!!
  3. they have a program for high school students that is just like FFA and are seeking students who want to participate

We heard good news, based on our suggestion, Davis Downtown is taking some steps to help our local restaurants make the cost of doing business a little more affordable!

We also learned that Mabel’s Market is opening up a bistro behind them that will have vegan options – they are supposed to open in the next few months.
