Many local folks joined in actions for Veganuary & beyond as we all entered the New Year! Cool Cuisine plans for 2025 Planet Friendly Feasts and other fun are underway!

Veganuary encourages people worldwide to try being vegan for the month of January. Since 2014 millions of people have taken part in this one-month vegan pledge.

Moving to a plant-based diet is the single most impactful way to protect the environment and improve the health of millions of people. In Davis, COOL Cuisine is an organization that has advocated year-round since 2013 for more dining options and products to be available for those who want to try a plant-based diet. The organization works with restaurants, grocery stores, and organizations that hold community-wide events and publicizes them free of charge. They have tracked that nearly 15% of Davis community members are interested in checking out more planet-friendly food.

Davis Food Co-op teamed up with COOL Cuisine on Sunday, January 12,  for a tour of the Davis Food Co-op. Attendees explored cool products to buy as well as get treated to taste tests.  The Co-op continues to offer plant-based cooking classes and vegan food demos.

2025 Planet Friendly Feast Plans!

A sampling of the food from Planet Friendly Feasts last Fall!

COOL Cuisine just completed a highly successful five-month Planet-Friendly Feast Series attended by nearly 100 diners, most of whom had not previously known about the organization. The meals demonstrated that there are a variety of restaurant options and types of cuisine where diners can find delicious meals that are fully plant-based.

COOL Cuisine just updated its Cool Restaurants web page to help community members find meals to explore.

In the coming year Davis diners can look forward to monthly dining events, which will be listed on CoolCuisine.net and on the COOL Cuisine Facebook page.

Each event has a slightly different format…where requested, please fill out a brief form to let us know you are coming and put these on your calendar!
  1. Three Ladies Cafe: Saturday, February 8, 1pm,  add yourself to list
  2. Davis Noodle City: Thursday, March 6, 6:30pm, add yourself to list
  3. Red 88 event: Thursday, March 27, 6:00pm, they have not provided the ticket link yet

If you want to participate in meaningful advocacy and help local restaurants stay strong, here are some ways you can help.

  1. Give them strong reviews on Yelp and Google, it helps them draw in people driving by on the freeway
  2. Don’t use Door Dash or other delivery services – pick up the meals you want “to go”, nothing is that far away in Davis
  3. Pay with cash instead of credit cards – the 3% fees are eating into their profit
