Cool Davis partner Water Wise Davis, with support from the City of Davis, is hosting a Greywater Showcase in the Davis Senior Center Activity Room 646 A Street in Davis on Wednesday, July 12, from 5:30 to 7:30pm.
Come and win one of two raffle prizes: parts kit for a laundry greywater system! This is a $100 value! Reserve your spot today! Drop-ins will be accommodated as long as there is space. This event is FREE!
The Greywater Showcase will feature a short presentation about the two basic types of greywater systems,a Q&A with a panel of greywater system owners, demonstration systems, and time to chat with City of Davis building department and public works staff, system owners, Water Wise Davis members, and vendors.
What is greywater?
In California, greywater is defined as water collected from washing machines, sinks (excluding the kitchen sink), showers, and bathtubs that can be used for landscape irrigation. Using greywater to supplement or replace traditional irrigation systems will likely help you reduce your household water usage especially in summer by reducing your need to use potable water for outdoor irrigation.

Laundry to Landscape and Branched Drain systems
The easiest and permit free system is a “laundry to landscape” system that directs drainage water from your clothes washing machine to your landscape. The next level requires a bit more commitment of time and resources: a “branched drain” system directs drainage water from showers, bathroom sinks, and tubs to your landscape and requires a permit.
