Double Up on Solar Campaign Looking Bright
October 7, 2016
Davis, we are on track to reach our goal of 500 new solar systems by year’s end!
Data through the end of September shows that Davisites filed permits for 368 solar systems in 2016. We are just shy of exactly three quarters of the goal at the end of the third quarter.
Not sure what the campaign is all about? Check out our updated solar page.
The Davis City Council announced in June a goal of doubling the number of residential solar systems to a total of 4500 by 2020. An interim goal of 500 by year’s end was also set.
Cool Davis and the City of Davis are working together to promote the Double Up on Solar campaign to encourage residents to adopt solar electrical systems at their homes with information and resources in the form of workshops, solar stories from residents who already have systems, cool solutions pages, a dedicated web page, and more.

“We can see this pattern of neighbors sharing with neighbors about solar,” reports Cool Davis Executive Director Chris Granger. “If we keep up this pace, we will reach or even beat our goal of 4500 by 2020. Individual households are making considerable contributions to the overall community reduction of greenhouse gases. These households are stepping up to do their part to ensure a healthy future and saving lots of money on their energy bills, too.”
Cool Davis and the City co-sponsored a Solar Fair in June with solar providers Solar Roof Dynamics, Aztec Solar, and RePower Yolo, to jump start the effort. Workshops, a documentary screening about solar energy, vendors, and the Davis Solar Cookers club were all there, plus the debut of El Rayito, Cool Davis’s new radiant mascot.
More information about the Double Up on Solar campaign can be found at the fabulous and updated Cool Davis Solar page with plenty about the how’s and why’s of going solar.
Please share the solar page with friends, neighbors, and family! We are trying to boost our Likes on Facebook so we can reach more of y’all out there!
Cool Davis is also super proud to announce the completion of a set of three Cool Solutions pages to help homeowners navigate the in’s and out’s of solar available below or via the new Solar page. These viewable PDF’s link to important resources, are easy to read, yet pack vital concepts and facts into a small space. We are confident you will find them useful!
