Pedal Your Bike; Power Cool Davis
Love biking, fine wine, good food, fun company and holidays? Yes we do too! And we have good news as we have a great opportunity where you can combine your passion, get to have a great holiday and also support Cool Davis at the same time.
Cool Davis has been selected as a beneficiary and the City of Davis will host of the Climate Ride 2014 Wine Country Bike Tour and Fundraiser (May 17th through May 20th) which will pass through town.
This 4-day cycling adventure begins in San Francisco, heads north to Marin and the spectacular Wine Country and on to California’s Capitol in Sacramento. Not only will it be a great cycling trip, it also promises to be an inspiring journey with people dedicated to supporting their favorite sustainability, active transportation, and environmental non-profits. This year the trip route goes through Davis on the way to advocate for Climate policy at the State Capitol in Sacramento.

Best of all Davis has a team which will be joining the ride open to everyone from beginners as well as experienced riders. Dave Kemp (DK ) the Active Transportation Coordinator for the City of Davis is volunteering his personal time to lead the Cool Davis Ride Cool Team and will be leading training rides in March and April for team members. If you would like to join the team, sign up soon to reserve your spot as the trip is filling up fast.
Since its inception in 2008, Climate Ride has donated more than $1.5 million to sustainability and bike advocacy organizations, and has educated thousands of people about these issues. The Cool Davis fundraising goal for this event is $25,000. These funds will be used to support community efforts to increase bike trips in the city to 30% of all journeys and increase non-car transport to 50% e by 2020. C\Cool Davis will work with city staff, Davis Bicycles!, Unitrans and other transportation leaders in the community to ensure these funds help achieve these goals.
