Strong Turnout for Home Energy Workshop and Home Tours

Community Members Turn Out for Home Energy Planning

More than 40 residents attended Cool Davis’ Make a Plan Workshop and Home Energy Score presentation on May 17 at the Davis Senior Center, with many continuing on to Electric Home Tours showcasing real examples of home electrification projects across Davis.

In total, 50 people registered for the event, 40 attended the workshop sessions, and 32 participants visited one of three featured electric homes during the afternoon tours. The event was supported by 13 volunteers who assisted with setup, advising, tour coordination, and event breakdown.

The workshop focused on helping homeowners better understand home energy efficiency, electrification planning, and available incentives before major heating and cooling systems need replacement. Presentations included both a Home Energy Score overview and a Make a Plan workshop designed to guide attendees through practical next steps for improving comfort, lowering energy use, and preparing homes for the future.

Attendees also had opportunities to speak directly with local experts and contractors throughout the event. Representatives from local HVAC contractor Greiner Heating and Air and Electrify My Home participated to answer questions and provide guidance on electrification projects, heating and cooling upgrades, and available technologies. The assessor for the Davis Home Energy Score Pilot, Advanced Lower Home Energy, was also present to help residents better understand their scores and recommendations.

Electric Home Tours Offer Real-World Examples

Resource tables and advising sessions allowed participants to connect one-on-one with contractors, energy professionals, and community partners while learning about rebates, incentives, and available support programs.

The afternoon’s Electric Home Tours gave participants the opportunity to see completed electrification upgrades in real homes across Davis. Homeowners shared firsthand experiences about projects including heat pumps, induction stoves, insulation improvements, and solar integration, offering practical insight into the process of transitioning away from fossil fuels.

The event’s flexible format allowed attendees to move between presentations, advising tables, and home tours throughout the day, combining educational information with real-world examples.

Cool Davis organizers said the strong participation reflects growing community interest in home energy improvements and electrification planning, especially as residents look for ways to reduce utility costs, improve home comfort, and prepare for future energy needs.

Community volunteers played a major role in the event’s success, with 13 volunteers supporting operations throughout the day.
