Every May, communities take to their two wheels for Bike Month. May is Bike Month is a celebration of local bike culture and community, and an open invitation for riders of all experience levels to hop on their bike seat and move those pedals.

The initiative encourages the use of bikes for shorter, everyday trips. These trips, often between just 1-3 miles are often easily bikeable, but many still use cars to make them. Participants can log their rides with the Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates to win prizes, meet fellow cyclists, and support healthier communities.

Whether it’s exploring a scenic route, commuting to work, or simply cruising through your community, May is the perfect month to get out there on your bike!

How to Participate

  • Create an account on NorCal GO
  • Register for May is Bike Month on NorCal GO
  • Once you register, you can log your rides and miles on NorCal GO in May to win bikes, t-shirts, gift cards, park passes and more!
  • Riders who register before April 28th are entered to win a May is Bike Month prize.

Why Participate?

While bike month is about bike riding, it is also about building a more sustainable community around us. Participating in bike month has many benefits, including:

  • Improved cardiovascular, immune system, and mental health
  • Money saved on transportation through lower gas and vehicle maintenance costs.
  • Reductions in emissions and environmental impacts
  • Creating safer and more bike-friendly communities for your neighbors
  • Meeting and connecting with a network of local bikers

And on top of these, biking is incredibly fun!
