Power Up Your Home: Free Workshop & Electric Home Tours in Davis

Cool Davis will host a free Make a Plan / Home Energy Score Workshop followed by Electric Home Tours on Sunday, May 17, giving residents a clear, hands-on path to improve home efficiency, reduce energy costs, and plan for electrification. The event is open to Davis Home Energy Score (HES) participants, County HES participants, and anyone in the community interested in making their home more comfortable and future-ready.

What You’ll Learn and Experience

The workshop is especially valuable for households with aging heating or cooling systems that may be nearing replacement. Attendees will learn how to make informed decisions before systems fail—and how to take advantage of available incentives along the way.

During the workshop, participants will gain a practical understanding of:

  • What a Home Energy Score means and how to read key sections of the report
  • The most effective upgrades for improving home efficiency
  • Potential energy cost savings
  • Available rebates and financial incentives
  • Where to get help, including programs, contractors, and trusted resources
  • Step-by-step guidance for planning home upgrades

Event Details and Home Tours

The event is designed to be interactive and accessible. From 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Davis Senior Center (646 A St, Davis, CA), attendees can explore tables hosted by local partners and stakeholders in the Valente Room, offering resources and one-on-one guidance. At the same time, Home Energy Score(12-1pm) + Make a Plan(1-2pm) workshop sessions will run in an adjacent room, making it easy to join at a convenient time. Home Energy Contractors & Advisors will be on site 12:00 – 2:30 PM for advising.

Electric Home Tours will run from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, overlapping with the workshop to give participants flexibility. After registering, attendees will receive details about tour locations, where they can see real examples of electrified homes, learn from homeowners, and gather ideas for their own upgrades.

This combined format allows participants to move from learning to real-world inspiration in a single afternoon—connecting information, resources, and lived experience.

Community partners and stakeholders will also be involved throughout the event helping attendees navigate next steps and available support; including the assessor for the Davis HES Pilot: Advanced Lower Home Energy!
