Yolo Energy Partnership Supports Residents
Yolo Energy Partnership Resource Fair Brings Energy Savings and Resilience to Yolo County
The Yolo Energy Partnership (YEP) connected residents, local organizations, and sustainability advocates at the Energy & Resilience Resource Fair on October 18, 2025, held at the RISE, Inc. Community Room in Esparto.
This free, family-friendly event showcased how YEP helps homeowners in unincorporated Yolo County save money, increase comfort, and prepare for a more resilient, energy-efficient future.
Free County Programs to Help Residents Save Energy and Money
The Yolo Energy Partnership is a county-led initiative offering free resources and expert guidance to help homeowners improve energy efficiency and lower utility costs.
Through YEP, eligible residents can:
-
Receive a free Home Energy Score assessment to identify energy improvements
-
Request a free weatherization kit with LED bulbs and insulation materials
-
Access rebates for electrification upgrades, including heat pumps and EV chargers
-
Learn about low-interest loans and home repair assistance for major projects
Residents can learn more or apply today at the Yolo Energy Partnership website.
Highlights from the Esparto Energy & Resilience Resource Fair
At the October 18 fair, attendees enjoyed free food, kids’ activities, and hands-on learning about local energy and disaster-preparedness resources.
The event featured all four YEP programs:
-
Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation Program (OOHR)
-
Home Energy Score Program (HES)
-
Weatherization Kit Program
-
Valley Clean Energy’s Electric Advisor Hotline
Participants also had the chance to speak directly with energy experts and partner organizations, pick up free weatherization kits, and enter a raffle for a free induction cooktop and cookware set.
Understanding the Home Energy Score
One of YEP’s most popular offerings is the Home Energy Score (HES)—a simple way to understand how your home uses energy and where improvements can save money.
Developed by the U.S. Department of Energy, the HES rates a home’s efficiency on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the most efficient) and provides a personalized report with upgrade recommendations and potential savings estimates.
The assessment is completely free for homeowners in unincorporated Yolo County.
Priority is given to:
-
Low-income households
-
Farmworkers
-
Seniors (65+)
-
Families with children
-
Individuals with disabilities

Local Collaboration and Community Impact
The Esparto event was the result of collaboration among Yolo County’s Sustainability Division, DeColores, and Cool Davis.
Volunteers from Cool Davis helped facilitate the Home Energy Score and OOHR programs, sharing tips from their “Make a Plan” home energy program to help residents take practical steps toward reducing household energy use.
This coordinated effort reflects Yolo County’s commitment to expanding energy efficiency programs that are accessible, inclusive, and community-driven.
Partner Organizations Offering Additional Resources
Several organizations participated in the Resource Fair, expanding support beyond home energy efficiency:
Driving Clean Assistance Program – DrivingCleanCA.org
Helps low-income and disadvantaged residents purchase clean-air vehicles through grants and financial coaching, supporting both clean mobility and financial stability.
Valley Water Collaborative – ValleyWaterC.org
Provides free well water testing and bottled water delivery to households affected by nitrate contamination, ensuring access to safe drinking water.
Catholic Charities LISTOS CA Program – CCYOSO.org/DCMP
Teaches disaster preparedness across Yolo and Solano counties, helping families build safety plans and emergency kits.
Continuing Energy Savings and Resilience in Yolo County
The Esparto Resource Fair highlighted how local partnerships can strengthen both energy efficiency and community resilience.
As Yolo County continues the Yolo Energy Partnership, residents are encouraged to apply now to take advantage of these free, limited-time programs. Small home upgrades can lead to lasting energy savings, improved comfort, and a cleaner future for the county.
