Take the time to share your vision for the General Plan!

At the August 13th workshop the City of Davis kick-offed the initial community engagement period for a new community General Plan.    Davis folks have until early November to submit your vision and perspectives for the new general plan.

The last general plan from 2000 is still the guiding document for land use decisions until this new one is put in place.  A new general plan should reflect the future we are facing and the priorities and values we would like to see embedded in the community as it grows.  This is the opportunity for climate priorities and environmental justice values to be incorporated in our community plan and goals.

This initial input time includes a number of activities that are available to all of us.

Answer the survey!  Take the Davis 2050 General Plan Update Survey! This survey is an opportunity to inform the vision, share your thoughts about the future of Davis, issues in Davis and what makes Davis special. The survey is open until October 31, 2025.

Meeting in A Box – Host your own conversation about the future of Davis! The Meeting in a Box toolkit makes it easy! With a step-by-step guide, workshop activities and feedback forms, you can gather input from friends, neighbors or community groups.  Download the Meeting in a Box Toolkit here !  Meeting feedback forms are due back by November 1st!

Take a look around your neighborhood and think about how your neighborhood and community resources might change over time as we address future challenges like

climate change and meeting the housing needs of our community.  How will we get around in the future? What kind of housing or services will you or your neighbors need 5 or 25 years from now?  How walkable, safe, green is your neighborhood now?  What changes would you like to see?

  • Downtown Davis Plan – Look over this plan for sustainability goals, land use definitions and ideas you might apply to your neighborhood. The Downtown was defined as a neighborhood in this document.  How will your neighborhood relate to this denser and more active downtown?  How do the building types and uses relate to your neighborhood?  Where is the place for the missing middle? What should your neighborhood shopping center look and feel like in the future? How do you want to get around?
  • City of Davis Climate Action and Adaptation Plan summarizes both the challenges of meeting our greenhouse gas objectives and ensuring that our community can respond and remain resilient in the face of climate impacts. How do those challenges relate to you and your neighborhood? What is the state of your tree canopy, your energy and transportation resources?
