Cool Davis is in the Community – Standing with You
Its fall and Cool Davis is busy showing up! Cool Davis is in the community and standing with you! We are sharing the latest information on Cool Solutions so you can respond to climate impacts, make decisions and take action. Our Home Energy, Ride Cool and Community Engagement teams are out at Farmers Market on the 1st, 3rd and 4th Saturdays of every month to answer your questions and provide you with information.
In October we will participate in:
- October 5th Explorit Science Fair

Cool Cuisine has launched the new Planet Friendly Feasts – come out and join us for fun food and fascinating conversation! Next feast is October
Coming November 17th — Save the Date for our very special conversation with Kim Stanley Robinson
Cool Davis staff are starting planning for more neighborhood based Make A Plan Home Energy workshops and tours for 2025. These workshops are focused on households who are ready to plan to improve energy efficiency and  replace their gas appliances — their heating and hot water systems — with all electric equipment!
Telling your stories! Celebrating your successes! Supporting your efforts!
Your progress to reduce emissions in your life and make your community more sustainable and livable is important to us. Cool Davis is a place to come and share what you’ve learned with others. It’s a place where expertise and curiosity meet to make change, learn and share new things.  We are always interested in stories and storytelling. Post your successes and share to our Facebook and Instagram! Come join our communications team and help tell our community stories online and in person.
Engaging & Collaborating with Partners!
2024 has already been an exciting year for building new partnerships especially with Tree Davis, and Valley Clean Energy. We are thrilled about our recent renewal our partnership with the City of Davis and are grateful for all of the staff and leaders at the City who support our work!
Cool Davis is especially excited to participate in the planning of a new Climate Resilience Collaborative for Yolo county. We are grateful for the new working relationships with the many staff responsible for sustainability and climate action in local communities, Yolo County , UC Davis and Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation.

Cool Davis is hoping all our friends living in Rancho Yolo remain well! This is a reminder of our fragile grid and the need to look after each other during heat emergencies. Hurray that the City of Davis City now has Social Services staff to join City of Davis Fire Department to assist when a vulnerable neighborhood's power goes down.
For other down neighborhoods - remember to check on your neighbors! If your power is still on consider ways to reduce your energy use pre-cool , cover windows, delay appliance use, double up with neighbors in a cool location - cooling center (see City post for cooling center info), movie theater etc to reduce loads. After the emergency, move forward on your plans for how you will reduce and manage energy use in the future. We have to stand together to adapt to new climate challenges. Cool Davis and our many partners are here to help.
