The goal, the plan, and the process

In 2020, the Yolo County Board of Supervisors set the goal of achieving a carbon-negative footprint by 2030, with a focus on equity and justice. The Climate Action and Adaptation Plan serves as a roadmap that outlines the actions that Yolo County will take to attain this goal, including enhancing Yolo County’s capacity to withstand the impacts of climate change.

Informed by extensive public input, the plan will include recommendations aimed at reducing emissions, safeguarding natural resources, increasing the utilization of renewable energy, supporting the flourishing sustainable agricultural practices already established in Yolo County, and more.

The Climate Action and Adaptation Plan is designed to benefit all members of the community and foster health, equity, and resilience throughout all its stages and outcomes.

As part of the process of updating the County Climate Action and Adaptation Plan, community members and community-based organizations are encouraged to participate in one of seven upcoming Community Conversation sessions. During these sessions, residents of Yolo County will have the opportunity to engage in conversations with their neighbors and share their vision for a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable community.
