Community Voices: the Future of Housing & Climate Action with DCAN
A messge from Davis CAN:
We’re counting down to the launch of our first public series, Community Voices: the Future of Housing & Climate Action on November 12th! We hope you will join us to share your perspective on the needs, challenges, opportunities and aspirations for addressing these two pressing issues that impact us all. This series will include opportunities to participate in facilitated small-group discussions and hear from speakers presenting on housing and climate issues. Once completed, the Community Voices project will provide a trusted baseline on public opinion related to housing and climate issues with the release of our findings in May of 2024.
Ready to RSVP? Click here!
If you cannot join us in November, we hope you will join us at a future event. We are anticipating about 15 total events between January-April 2024 focused on broadening community input in housing and climate issues so please stay tuned!
Can you pitch in to help DCAN?
All of our events will be free for our participants with speakers, snacks, and materials covered by DCAN. However, that means we need donations to make it happen! To lock down our reservations for event spaces, print the materials, advertise, and buy the snacks– we need your help! If you are able to support our work bringing the Davis community together for housing and climate action, please use this link. We’re grateful for any amount, no matter how small.
Please use this link to DONATE to Davis CAN.
We also need volunteers! DCAN is a grassroots organization working for our community. If you would like to join our team, please sign up here for more info.
Thank you!
Onward,
Judy Innis and the DCAN team

Cool Davis is hoping all our friends living in Rancho Yolo remain well! This is a reminder of our fragile grid and the need to look after each other during heat emergencies. Hurray that the City of Davis City now has Social Services staff to join City of Davis Fire Department to assist when a vulnerable neighborhood's power goes down.
For other down neighborhoods - remember to check on your neighbors! If your power is still on consider ways to reduce your energy use pre-cool , cover windows, delay appliance use, double up with neighbors in a cool location - cooling center (see City post for cooling center info), movie theater etc to reduce loads. After the emergency, move forward on your plans for how you will reduce and manage energy use in the future. We have to stand together to adapt to new climate challenges. Cool Davis and our many partners are here to help.
