Action to End Fossil Fuels: Old Sac Sunday Sept 17
This summer has seen hundreds of extreme weather records broken, many resulting in tragic climate disasters. In New York this September, the UN Secretary-General is hosting a first-of-its-kind Climate Ambition Summit to demand that nations stop the fossil fuel expansion that is driving the climate emergency. In conjunction with the summit thousands of activists around the world will take to the streets on September 17 to demand their governments stop permitting fossil fuel projects.
Join sponsors Oil & Gas Network (OGAN) and a large Coalition of inviduals and organizations on the waterfront in Old Sacramento on Sunday September 17, 11:00 am, to demand that Governor Newsom and President Biden End the Era of Fossil Fuels by committing to end new permitting, phase out oil and gas production, and declare a climate emergency. Organizations involved in this Action include 350 (Sacramento and Bay Area), Extinction Rebellion (Sacramento and Bay Area), Fridays for Future (Sacramento, Davis, and Fresno), Sunrise Movement (Sacramento and Bay Area), CA Youth vs Big Oil, Youth vs Apocalypse, Third Act Sacramento, Sacramento Climate Coalition, Climate Health Now, Mother’s Rebellion
This family-friendly action will feature a giant puppet show, carnival games, kayaks in the river, performers and speakers who will share how you can get involved in ending the era of Fossil Fuels and building a better future together.

Cool Davis is hoping all our friends living in Rancho Yolo remain well! This is a reminder of our fragile grid and the need to look after each other during heat emergencies. Hurray that the City of Davis City now has Social Services staff to join City of Davis Fire Department to assist when a vulnerable neighborhood's power goes down.
For other down neighborhoods - remember to check on your neighbors! If your power is still on consider ways to reduce your energy use pre-cool , cover windows, delay appliance use, double up with neighbors in a cool location - cooling center (see City post for cooling center info), movie theater etc to reduce loads. After the emergency, move forward on your plans for how you will reduce and manage energy use in the future. We have to stand together to adapt to new climate challenges. Cool Davis and our many partners are here to help.
