Next Generation Transportation for Davis
Nationally recognized transportation expert James Corless will speak Thursday, January 11, at 7pm at the City of Davis Community Chambers, located behind the main City Hall building at 23 Russell Boulevard in Davis.
As the seventh in a series of noted speakers hosted by the Davis Futures Forum, Corless will offer ideas about how Davis might accommodate emerging transportation alternatives as we plan for the future of our downtown.  This could include car share programs, self-driving cars, Uber and Lyft, and maybe even motorized bikes and skateboards.
Corless will also address ways to meet the needs of the growing number of people who wish to live where they can walk or take transit to their destinations – particularly millenials and seniors.
Corless was recently selected as the Chief Executive Officer of the Sacramento Area Council of Governments. He comes to Sacramento from Washington DC where he was the founding director of Transportation for America. During his eight-year tenure with Transportation for America, he led advocacy efforts for improved transportation options and developed local plans and policies to ensure that people at all income levels have affordable, efficient, low stress options for getting where they need to go.
The previous Davis Futures Forum speaker, Jeff Tumlin, nearly filled Community Chambers for his talk about parking. Access the Davis Media Access video recording of this presentation.

This event is sponsored by the City of Davis and Cool Davis.
