Giving Tuesday Intentions? It’s Not Too Late
November 30, 2016
Editors note: This year’s Giving Tuesday appeal letter follows. Please give generously to at least one of these local causes or our current rooftop solar campaign–Double Up on Solar–even if it’s not still Tuesday, November 29th.
Dear neighbor,
It’s Giving Tuesday! As we face the greatest challenge of our time, global climate change, our local coalition of organizations remains committed to our work. Now, with nearly 80 partners, we will reduce climate impacts while building steady pathways to a resilient future for every Davis resident, household, neighborhood, and organization.
We are asking for your help and your donations to support this work! As we prepare to celebrate our community centennial, we are encouraged by what we have built together and we take heart as we look forward to meet our future challenges.

For six years Cool Davis with our partners and working groups we hold workshops, participate in competitions, hold film screenings, feature panels, and festivals. Together with the the City of Davis, at the Sustainability Summit last May we moved forward toward new and creative solutions for our community.
In the spirit of 100 years of history and hope for 100 more, please consider making your local Climate Action contribution today!
For our community and our planet!

Cool Davis is hoping all our friends living in Rancho Yolo remain well! This is a reminder of our fragile grid and the need to look after each other during heat emergencies. Hurray that the City of Davis City now has Social Services staff to join City of Davis Fire Department to assist when a vulnerable neighborhood's power goes down.
For other down neighborhoods - remember to check on your neighbors! If your power is still on consider ways to reduce your energy use pre-cool , cover windows, delay appliance use, double up with neighbors in a cool location - cooling center (see City post for cooling center info), movie theater etc to reduce loads. After the emergency, move forward on your plans for how you will reduce and manage energy use in the future. We have to stand together to adapt to new climate challenges. Cool Davis and our many partners are here to help.
