Chef Debra Chase presents a free cooking demonstration this Saturday, January 23, from 3-5pm at the United Methodist Church (1620 Anderson Road).  Two lucky people will win free CSA boxes to take home!  What better way to learn how to cook for a cooler planet.

Join Chef Debra to juice, pickle, roast, and sauté five courses with the veggies and fruit from a CSA box of seasonal and local vegetables and fruits.

Turn a typical January CSA box of vegetables and fruits into:
1. Blood Orange Shrub
2. Butternut Squash and Kale Quesadillas with Spiced Pickled Cauliflower and Broccoli stems (no waste)!
3. Savory Vegetable Soup with Thyme Pistou
4. Broccoli with Garlic Sauce
5. Fresh and Easy Fruit Tart

Taste each dish, too!  A special thanks to Farm Fresh to You, Pacific Star Gardens and The Natomas Farm (offering an on-your-honor farm stand now and CSA boxes in the summer at www.thenatomasfarm.com).

Complete a brief survey on our free Meatless Monday Cooking Classes for a chance to win a free CSA box to take home!

This is the third free Interfaith Meatless Monday cooking demonstration.  As always, the lesson is free of charge, although donations are accepted.

The first Interfaith Meatless Monday cooking demonstration in October featured “Mediterranean Cuisine with Wine Pairings” at the Unitarian Universalist Church.  The second demonstration offered “Hearty Meatless Main Dishes for your Family and Your Community” in November at St. James.

What’s next?

Save the date for “The Plant-Based Journey: a Step-by-Step Guide for Transitioning to a Healthy Lifestyle” featuring the book’s author, Lani Muelrath on April 10 at Davis Community Church from 3-5pm for a suggested donation of $10-15.  “To everyone on, beginning, or thinking about the journey…Lani wrote this book for you.” This talk will introduce Lani’s guide to taking a journey of changing to eating a plant-based diet by offering practical guidance and five steps.
