Oil Filter Exchange
Do you change your own motor oil? If so, recycle a used oil filter at any AutoZone or O’Reilly Auto Parts store in Yolo County or Napa Auto Parts (Pisani’s) in Winters during normal business hours on Saturday, May 17th and we’ll give you a new, comparable one for free!
Participating locations:
AutoZone – 90 W. Main St., Woodland
O’Reilly Auto Parts – 16 W. Court St., Woodland
O’Reilly Auto Parts – 1681 Research Park Dr., Davis
AutoZone – 1400 West Capitol Ave., West Sacramento
O’Reilly Auto Parts – 709 Jefferson Blvd., West Sacramento
Napa Auto Parts (Pisani’s) – 5 Abbey St., Winters
Come out to any of these locations to exchange your filter. Limit 2 per resident, while supplies last. New filter must be comparable in quality and cost to the used oil filter brought in. Open to Yolo County Residents only. Exchange open at each location during normal business hours.
City Recycling Program staff will be onsite at the Davis O’Reilly store from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be handing out free oil change mats, funnels, and drain pans.
Each year California generates 67 million used automotive filters per year. The filters are considered hazardous waste and are banned from landfills, but they are also completely recyclable. Each filter has about a pound of re-usable steel. Before it is drained, an oil filter can contain over a pint of used oil. Oil doesn’t wear out, it just gets dirty. That means it can be re-refined over and over again. So, when changing your oil, recycle it and don’t forget the filter!
The filter exchange and oil change supplies are made possible by a grant from CalRecycle.
