Davis residents now eligible for renewable energy discounts

Deadline extended to August 10: Don’t miss out!
A new solar and energy efficiency discount program for Yolo County and the Cities of Davis, West Sacramento, Winters and Woodland may just be the solution you need to install solar panels or energy upgrades in your home.
A consortium of Yolo County local government entities has helped set up an innovative program that allows community residents to pool their buying power to secure significant discounts and a range of financing options that make going solar and completing home energy upgrades more affordable than ever.
Don’t miss the deadline: July 31 2012. If you have been thinking of going solar but not around to it, here is your chance!
Energy Benefits Yolo is being offered by the non-profit ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability USA. By aggregating installations, the program reduces the costs and increases the number of homes in Yolo County using solar to meet energy needs. For example, right now the cost to install is among the lowest in Northern California—$4.25/watt (pre-tax, a 20% discount off the average market installation cost).
Two contractors, selected through the program by an employee evaluation committee, REC Solar (no-cost solar electric and/or electric vehicle charging station quote) and Brower Mechanical (discounted energy efficiency assessments & no-cost solar hot water quote), will set up a consultation to review your property and provide you with a proposal. You then determine if it’s something you would like to pursue. If not, you are not obligated to purchase the system and/or upgrade.
The contractors offer different financing options depending on whether you are interested in owning your system (solar electric & solar thermal) or if you would like to lease (solar electric only). The solar lease is now the primary way that solar is installed in California and has a number of benefits for you to consider ($0 down, prepaid, monitoring, maintenance, performance guarantees and more).
The deadline to sign up for the program is July 31. Join the almost 110 participants who have registered for Energy Benefits Yolo to determine if solar or energy efficiency upgrades are right for your home and help spread the word! To learn more please visit: Energy Benefits Yolo.
