Hydration stations project

A hydration station is great for both drinking and filling up water bottles

The Hydration Stations Project has been adopted by the Cool Davis Initiative to encourage and support the restoration of public water fountains and to diminish  plastic waste.

A modern hydration station produces a water flow that encourages the use of a personal water bottle, and thereby both provides drinking water and reduces pollution. The target areas for these stations will include our green belts, Central Park, heavily trafficked bike routes, and our Davis schools.

In the face of increasing demands on natural resources, it is critical that we begin now to develop practices that are sustainable both for us and for future generations.  Drinking water is essential to life, and we believe that publicly available, clean drinking water should form an essential component of our communities. It is also a return to the principle that operated in ancient civilizations: a belief that public water fountains are a fundamental part of our city’s infrastructure and an essential resource for our members.

Please carry a refillable water bottle and choose the tap!
