Candidate statements

DONNA NEVILLE Age: 65 Occupation: City of Davis Planning Commissioner/Attorney It would be my honor to represent you on the Davis City Council. My extensive public service, coupled with community volunteer work, have given me the tools to address the important issues facing Davis. I spent nearly three decades as a trusted legal advisor, where I worked to improve state and local government programs. As a community volunteer, I chaired the City of Davis Finance and Budget Commission, where our recommendations saved the city money. I also chaired the DJUSD Measure M Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee. Currently, I serve on the City of Davis Planning Commission and as board president for the National Alliance on Mental Illness Yolo County, an organization that promotes awareness of, and destigmatizes, mental illness. I understand how government should work and take a creative, collaborative approach to solving problems. If elected, I will listen closely to your concerns and work hard to implement effective solutions to the City’s most pressing problems. My top priorities include ensuring that the infrastructure and services you need and depend on are serving you; promoting fiscal and climate resiliency through smart planning and action; and addressing homelessness and housing affordability. I love this community, which has given so much to my family, and am optimistic that together we can all build a stronger, more vibrant and sustainable City. Visit www.donna4davis.com to learn more.

MARY F. “FRANCESCA” WRIGHT Age: 67 Occupation: Retired sole proprietor of research and evaluation consultancy business I am excited to represent the people of Davis as a visionary, pragmatic city councilwoman with decades of experience serving our community and a career dedicated to improving public services. I came to Davis in 1996 to train agencies statewide on collaborative approaches to help children succeed. I earned a Masters in Public Administration in 2006. For fifteen years, I ran an independent consultancy helping dozens of local governments maximize the impact of their programs. In 2021, I received the City of Davis Thong Hy Huynh Memorial Award in Civil Rights Advocacy for leading community-wide efforts to improve public safety. This included greater police oversight and the creation of a new Department of Social Services and Housing. I am eager to collaborate with our commissions, city staff and community members to lead Davis into a new era of innovation as we address the challenges of climate change, escalating cost of living and the desperate lack of affordable housing. To learn more about my ideas to assist renters and first time home buyers, improve staffing in key City departments, promote small sustainable farming on our perimeter, and make Davis a thriving hub for food businesses please visit www.wrightfordavis.org
