The Time is Now

As a couple, we have been a Cool Davis Board Member "Team" since late 2015 and we are terming out!  We are thrilled that our Board has grown and includes many energetic, committed, younger folks excited about carrying forward the Cool Davis mission: helping our fair City reach carbon neutrality by 2040.  This is a challenging goal that will basically require us all to go "all-electric" and renewables-based over the next 18 years.  

Cool Davis is focused on promoting engagement in this mission by everyone in Davis including homeowners, students, tenants, landlords, and businesses.  Many Davisites are familiar with past and current Cool Davis programs including the Energy Fairs, Solar and Electric Vehicle campaigns, and the more recently-rolled out HVAC retrofit program.  The next step is our soon-to be-named Engagement program that will assist all of us, including the under-served, with comprehensive efforts to go all-electric.  But this program requires adding staff; we have to raise $40,000 on the Big Day of Giving to commit to a 2022 rollout.  

You can help!  (Dick, our fundraising curmudgeon, said this more blatantly; Carol reviewed his original plea to make it less aggressive.)  We are personally committing $3000- half our Cool Davis donation- as matching funds for donations made through this fundraising page.  To urge your generous support, we've concocted the poem below and we've also "cooked up" the attached video to further "induce" your participation.  

Hopefully this video will conclude our media exposure careers...

As bombs fall like rain on folks in Ukraine

And we wonder how much will remain

When Putin is done with his form of fun-

While we in the West fear as one;

The query we face is how to erase

Our need for the fossils we chase!

As we think global, best to act local-

Where everyone has much to do;

Instead of alas’s, let’s get off our gases!

At home, and on the road, too.
