Theological Ethicist Reveals Climate Action Blueprint

“Humankind hovers on a precipice. Climate change is a threat to human life on earth, yet it will not be suffered equally among us.”

Dr. Cynthia Moe-Lobeda, a distinguished theological ethicist whose work focuses on climate change and environmental justice, spoke with clarity and urgency to nearly one hundred Davis community members.

She framed our situation as a “colonialization of the atmospheric commons,” and warned that “a privileged response will protect those with means.”

Davis Pioneered Bike Lanes in 1967

The Davis Centennial is not our only significant anniversary in 2017 (see story below): Davis’s dedicated, on-street bike lanes turn 50 this year!

The four dedicated bike lanes Davis established in 1967 were the first in the nation. It was a significant accomplishment won with a lot of grass-roots activism, creative problem solving, and serious politicking.

Happy 100th Birthday Davis!

The City of Davis has lots to be proud of this year: First off we turn 100 years young. To celebrate the Davis Centennial, the City is engaging in a series of events including a re-creation of the first City Council meeting at Community Chambers at City Hall. The City is calling for Centenarians to step up and be noticed (folks who turn 100 this year).
