Cool News

Cool Davis Partners Coalition meeting was held December 20, 2017, at RepowerYolo offices in Davis.

A Davis contingent of about 40 led by mayor Robb Davis and council member Lucas Frerichs helped launch the new regional JUMP e-bikes system with an early morning jaunt starting at the Davis train station and sailing across the causeway to Raley Field in West Sacramento. Loretta Moore, Safe Routes to School coordinator for the City of Davis, and a happy staff member from the UC Davis Transportaton and Parking Services Go Club were among the enthusiastic group.

The Certified California Naturalist courses presented by Tuleyome in partnership with the University of California extension program and the Woodland Public Library, are 10-weeks long (with classes given on ten consecutive Fridays) and include at least three field trips.

climate impacts

Birders from the Yolo Audubon Society are witnessing changes at our latitude. Winters are suddenly filled with species previously associated with warmer climates to the south, while some other winter visitors no longer come this far south.

This past December, birders were astounded to find eight species of warblers and three species of orioles in the county at once. Normal would be three and zero, respectively.

Lentil curry soup recipe
