6th Annual Climate Conference Honors Trees

The 6th Annual Interfaith Climate Conference to be held March 10th is devoted to our life-giving trees. The conference – Deepening our Roots: Growing Resilient Forests – will feature two tree experts, one addressing how to create healthy urban Forests and the other examining the challenges facing our Sierra Nevada forests and how to protect them. This year’s gathering is hosted by the Unitarian Universalist Church of Davis (27074 Patwin Rd., Davis) from 1-5 p.m. All are welcome. A suggested donation of $10 to $15 is appreciated. Appropriate for high school students and free for all students.  3.0 International Society of Arboriculture CEUs are available. Register for the Conference

SAVE THE DATE: EV/PV HOME TOUR in DAVIS (Electric Vehicle/ Solar Photovoltaics) On Sunday April 15th from 1- 4:30pm visit homes in Davis that sport solar panels and electric vehicles. Locations to be announced later in March.

ROOFTOP SOLAR

Federal Solar Tariffs Not a Disincentive for Davis

On Jan. 22, President Trump issued a ruling on penalties to be imposed on solar module manufacturers who sell their equipment into the U.S. market. Effective Feb. 7, there is a 30-percent solar import tariff for crystalline-silicon solar cells and modules.

The decision has left many solar hopefuls wondering whether their plans for a rooftop solar system will need to be delayed or dashed entirely.

ARBOR DAY 2018

Come Celebrate 40th TreeCity USA Anniversary

The 2018 Davis Arbor Day celebration will be held Saturday, March 17, at the Rotary Stage near the carousel in Central Park from 9 a.m. to noon. The celebration features the Tree Circus, Fabulous Faces Zemporium, Free Range Singers, the Mobile Bike Library with kids’ tree-related literature,  and Arbor Day Art contest awards. Activities include planting your own deep-root watering buckets, making your own commemorative print, and a mayoral proclamation.

CA Snowpack Levels Far Below Average

Although there’s more snow than there was a month ago, the Sierra snowpack remains at levels well below average. Measurements showed that the snow water equivalent at Phillips Station were 14% of average last month. Statewide snowpack measurements are only slightly higher.
