Our homes are more important than ever. So, having a home that powers itself, even when there’s a power outage, equates to huge peace of mind. How is this possible? By pairing rooftop solar and backup battery systems!

Jon Bjornstad recently installed a BMW fast charger in his home for his BMWi-3. Jon dug the trench for the electrical line himself, removing and then replacing a ton of soil. In 2019, he purchased a home in Village Homes that already had a PV solar system installed.

Over a decade ago, a group of concerned community members responded to the call from the City of Davis to assist with the implementation of its first and groundbreaking Climate Action and Adaptation Plan. Lynne Nittler, Judy Moores, and many others set their sights on a new mission.

The Yolo Interfaith Alliance for Climate Justice was formed as a working group of Cool Davis in 2014. Since then YIACJ has offered many ways for the faith community to engage in discussion and action to slow the climate crisis.

UC Davis plans to keep all classes remote for Fall 2020 with the exception of classes with students of 50 or fewer, which will meet if pedagogically important. Cool Davis intern Anthony Montes provides UC Davis updates and cool ideas for students to live sustainably this Fall.

Despite the challenges of shelter in place, two young women -- one from UC Davis the other from Davis High School -- have been steadily adding to the knowledge base and improvement of social media tools management here at Cool Davis.

Due to COVID, the Davis Electric Vehicle Association has been holding its meetings online. Definitely a silver lining for electric vehicle curious folks thinking about buying their first new or used emissions-free vehicle!
